🧩 Launching Google Workspace DLP
Another step toward building the NovaCove Security Fabric.
Today we’re rolling out something we’ve been quietly working on for a while: Data Loss Protection for Google Workspace.
It’s the first time NovaCove has turned its lens inward — into the files, folders, and quiet corners of your organization’s data. With this release, you can finally see what’s being shared, downloaded, or left open across Google Drive.
This isn’t the end goal — it’s a step. One milestone in a longer path we’ve been walking toward something bigger: the NovaCove Security Fabric.
We’re not there yet. But this gets us closer.
🧠Where This Fits
Our vision has always been simple: help startups see their whole security picture without enterprise overhead.
To get there, we’ve been building one piece at a time — vendor visibility, external risk mapping, and now, file-level insight. This release adds another piece to the puzzle: visibility into how data moves inside your own workspace.
We’ve hit a few milestones already. There are a few more still to come. We’re not trying to hide the process — we’re building it in the open, and this is one of those moments worth sharing.
🧠What You Can Do Now
With GSuite DLP, you can see:
- Who’s sharing or downloading files
- Which files are being shared outside your domain
- Which external links are stale or long-forgotten
- Where potential risks are building up before they turn into problems
Every event — a share, a download, a permission change — is captured and scored for context. It’s not meant to overwhelm you; it’s meant to show you what matters.
📊 Inside the Dashboard
Overview
A clear snapshot of what’s happening inside Google Drive: 1,176 total events. 135 shares (11 external). 51 downloads. Trends over time. Top sharers. Top downloaders. That person who keeps sharing files with their personal email… The signals that help you understand how your team actually handles data.
User Analytics
Spot patterns in how people work. Who shares the most. Who downloads the most. How often, to where, and with what risk attached. It’s not about blame — it’s about visibility.
Risk Assessment
This is where things get actionable. The dashboard flags stale external shares, highlights how long they’ve been open, and gives you one-click options to revoke or review access.
If nothing’s risky, it’ll tell you that too. Good security isn’t just about finding problems — it’s about knowing when you’re clean.
Events Timeline
A full audit trail. Every action, searchable by user or file. This is where you go when you need to know what really happened.
Backfill
Need to catch up? You can backfill up to 365 days of Google Drive history for a full look at where your data’s been and who’s had access to it.
Perfect for audits, incident reviews, or just getting peace of mind.
🔒 Why It Matters
Most leaks don’t come from hackers. They come from old links, shared decks, and forgotten access.
Until now, most startups didn’t have an easy way to see that. GSuite DLP changes that — giving you a simple way to see where data lives, moves, and lingers.
It’s one small but essential step toward something bigger: a unified view of your organization’s security.
🚀 What’s Next
We’re not done. Not even close.
This release is another checkpoint on the road to what we’ve been calling the Security Fabric — a connected layer that brings together vendors, endpoints, data, and people into one coherent system.
We’re not ready to share how many milestones are left, but there aren’t many. And each one gets us closer to what we’ve been building toward since the start.
We’ll keep shipping, talking, and learning in public — just like this.
